THRISSUR: Noted scriptwriter and lyricist Dr S P Ramesh, 66, passed away due to stroke at Ammadam in Thrissur on Saturday.The close relationship with director Aravindan brought Ramesh into the film industry.He began his film career by writing the script for Pokkuveyil along with Aravindan. He also coscripted Margam, along with Anwar Ali and Rajiv Vijayaraghavan. The trio had won state award for that script. Anthiponvettam is another film scripted by Ramesh. He also wrote lyrics for the film. Ramesh had appeared in the silver screen in the role of a psychiatrist in Magrib directed by P T Kunju Muhammed . He had penned two books,'Chembaneerpoovu' and a travelogue 'Dwaipayanam'. He was born at Thirunakkara in Kottayam as the son of E P Sankara Kurup and Bhanumati. He came to Thrissur in 1974 as a psychiatrist in the Thrissur Mental Hospital.Ramesh retired as Superintendent of the hospital. He had also worked as District Medical Officer in Malappuram and was the deputy director of Kerala Health Services. He was the managing trustee of M Govindan Foundation of India.Ramesh is survived by wife Latha, son Thejas and daughters Nandini and Sukrita.The cremation will be held on the premises of his house at Venginissery on Monday evening .
