Security manual for Sabarimala

PATHANAMTHITTA: Devaswom Minister V S Sivakumar has said that a security manual will be prepared for Sabarimala to prevent human tragedy during the pilgrimage season.Talking to reporters at Sannidhanam Devaswom Guest House on Wednesday night, Sivakumar said that as part of the preparations for the safety of the thousands of pilgrims, the manual would be prepared at the earliest and security arrangements during the pilgrimage season would be on the basis of the manual.Adequate security personnel would be deployed wherever the pilgrims converge, Sivakumar said.Hi-mast lights to be installedSivakumar said that to prevent recurrence of tragedies such as Pulmedu, the Government had decided to install 50 hi-mast lights in forest areas where there are no electricity supply.The Government would spent Rs 1 crore for the purpose, including for the installation of generators, the Minister said.Sivakumar said that a Ministerial Sub-committee headed by him was set up for monitoring the implementation of the Sabarimala Master Plan. The Minister said that the Government included the Sabarimala Master Plan in the list of the 100-days programme of the UDF Government.Sivakumar said that setting up sewage treatment plant at Sannidhanam and queue complexes would be given priority in the Master Plan. Travancore Devaswom Board president M Rajagopalan Nair, member K Sicily and devaswom commissioner N Vasu were present at the conference.
