A betel shop owner in Jamshedpur has decided to dedicate his one-day's earning to Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi and distribute "Banarasi Paan" free of cost to mark the oath-taking ceremony on Monday.
Khemlal Sahu, who has his shop at main thoroughfare Cable basti chowk, has started distributing Banarasi paan among the people free of cost to celebrate the occasion (Modi becoming the country's Prime Minister). "The paan being distributed are as good as the Paan of Banaras, which the city was famous for world-over," Sahu said.
Sahu began distributing free Banarasi paan at 7 AM in the morning and would go on till 8PM. Asked what prompted him to celebrate the occasion in such a manner, Sahu said because Modi won with a record margin in the parliamentary polls from Varanasi, which was famous for Banarasi paan world-over, and that the people have high expectations that he will bring an end to problems such as price rise and corruption. He said he has already distributed around 1,200 free paans and plans to distribute a total 3,000 paans.
About number of paans he sells daily, Sahu said it was in between 2,000 to 2,500 pieces per day. Meanwhile, several functions to mark the occasion were in store to unfold later in the day. Dinesh Kumar, Golmuri committee President of BJP in Jamshedpur, said distribution of sweets, bursting of fire-crackers would be part of celebration. Besides, a big digital screen was being installed at Golmuri for general masses to witness Modiji's oath-taking ceremony live, Kumar added.
