Shukkoor case: Cops grill T V Rajesh

DYFI leader T V Rajesh MLA was questioned  at the office of the Circle Inspector of Police here in connection with the Shukkoor murder case for nearly three hours on Monday.

It was for the first time that an MLA was questioned to collect evidence relating to the murder of Muslim League worker Abdul Shukkoor at Keezhara.

The police had questioned CPM district secretary P Jayarajan twice as part of the investigation. T V Rajesh reached the office of the CI at 11am on Monday along with K K Narayanan MLA and his advocate B P Saseendran.

Naraynan and Saseendran weren’t allowed to enter the office of the CI.  Nayaranan’s demand to meet the district police chief was allowed, but he wasn’t permitted to enter the CI’s office where Rajesh was being questioned.

Rajesh was questioned by a police team including district police chief Rahul R Nair, DySP Sukumaran and Valapattanam CI U Preman. Coming out after being questioned, Rajesh said that he had told the police all that he knew about the incident involving the murder.

He refused to go into the details of the statement made by him to the police and the questions asked by the latter.

Rajesh said that according to the information received earlier from the police, he was to have questioned at the Government Guest House, but he was told later that he had to reach the office of the CI to be questioned. The police had issued notice to Rajesh to reach the Guest House on June 12. But, he could not turn up as the date collided with the Assembly proceedings.

Later, the police directed him to reach the CI’s office on Monday.

Elaborate security arrangements were made by the police on the premises of the Town Police station and the office of the CI in connection with the interrogation of the MLA.
