Some playing politics, says Pillai

KASARGOD: Kerala Congress(B) chairman R Balakrishna  Pillai said here on Monday that some people were playing politics with the Mullaperiyar issue.He told reporters  that a new dam should be constructed giving importance to the safety of the people living in four districts. “The government should not wait for anybody’s permission to construct the dam.” He said it was not proper on the part of the Tamil Nadu Govt to be obstinate on the issue.  “The state should continue to supply the same quantum of water to Tamil Nadu after constructing the new dam.,” he said. Balakrishna Pillai said the Central Government should take a bold and forthright stand on the issue. The issue which concerns the lives of 30 lakh people should not be prolonged for the sake of a fewvotes, he added.
