New Delhi: Actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, India's most recognized face abroad, will walk the famed Red Carpet for the 10th time in her chequered career at the 64th Cannes Film Festival that opens on Wednesday with Woody Allen's 'Midnight in Paris'.

Aishwarya, whose continued presence at one of the world's oldest film festivals has established the global spotlight on Bollywood, will be joined by Sonam Kapoor and Freida Pinto as they walk the Red Carpet for L'Oreal Paris. L'Oreal, for the first time, will have three spokespersons representing India at Cannes.

Mumbai-based designer Shaahid Amir will be the first Indian designer to showcase his collection at the Fashion Week during the ongoing gala event. The fashion show will be held at the Playboy Villa on Friday. Amir will present his collection titled Terra Mater (Mother Earth) line, inspired by nature and the Mughal era, at the event.

Shekhar Kapoor's, 'Bollywood, The Greatest Love Story Ever Told', the sole Indian movie in the Festival's official sections will not, however, be part of the competition lineup.

The twelve day event will see 40 world premieres and 20 will vie for the famed Palm D'Or to be decided by a nine-member Robert De Niro-led jury that will have among others, Jude Law and Uma Thurman.

The red carpet at the French Riviera is often as riveting as the films and India will mark its presence this year with an entire bevy of 'desi' beauties.

Minissha Lamba will also be present this year at the gala. Pinto will attend the amfAR - American Foundation for AIDS Research dinner and after-party on May 19. Karan Johar, designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukherjee are attending as guests of Chivas Regal.

Director Shekhar Kapoor will showcase a documentary where he along with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and American director Jeff Zimbalist will paint a poignant and swirling montage of Bollywood, which has in recent times become synonymous with Indian cinema. (With additional information from agencies)
