Sonias birthday celebrated

BANGALORE: The Congress-led UPA government is leading the country with the able guidance of the AICC supremo Sonia Gandhi, External Affairs Minister S M Krishna said here on Sunday. At a public meeting organised on the occasion of the birthday of Sonia Gandhi by the Hulimangala Block Congress unit, he said India was emerging as a leading economic power. The performances of the UPA government during the last few years is phenomenal, he added.  Recalling Sonia declining the post of PM after the 2004 Lok Sabha elections, Krishna said her sacrifice is the guiding light for the partymen. He said that bowing to the pressure of partymen, Sonia agreed to head the party in 1998.
