HYDERABAD: Keen to clear his table littered with the resignation letters of MLAs, speaker Nadendla Manohar on Monday rejected 61 of them and accepted four. That still leaves 14 resignations in his in tray.The MLAs whose resignations he has accepted are: Jupalli Krishna Rao (Kollapur), Gampa Govardhan (Kamareddy), Jogu Ramanna (Adilabad), T Rajaiah (Station Ghanpur).The resignations that have been rejected include those of the TRS (11) and TDP (32).
Though speaker's office would not say how many more resignations are pending with him, it is understood that there at least 14 of them, mostly those submitted by MLAs supporting Jagan Mohan Reddy.Among these Jagan Mohan Reddy loyalist MLAs, disciplinary proceedings are pending against Konda Surekha, Sobha Nagireddy, Y Balanagireddy, G Srikanth Reddy, C Amarnath Reddy, A Adinarayana Reddy. It is not clear what the speaker intends to do with these proceedings since their resignations too are pending with him.

After the speaker's move was announced, Jogu Ramanna and T Rajaiaha welcomed the acceptance of their resignations. "We have all along been asking the speaker to accept our resignations. Though there was delay, the speaker took the right decision," Rajaiah said.

With this decision of the speaker, seven Assembly seats have now fallen vacant, including Mahaboobnagar where the legislator Rajeswar Reddy died of heart attack last month.
