“The Spices Board is taking prompt action on the feedback received from the stakeholders during the various national and international forums”, said Board chairman A Jayathilak here on Monday.
Inaugurating the collaborative training centre for food safety and supply chain management in spices and botanical ingredients, he said that the project is the culmination of the decisions taken at the 11th World Spice Congress held at Pune early this year.
The project, which is the first of its kind in the country, is set up to facilitate capacity building and developing product-specific testing procedures for spices and botanical ingredients.
The second phase of the project, a two-week training session for selected delegates, will be held in US. Under the third phase, the participants would be involved in a series of workshops and training programmes in different regions of India. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was also signed on the occasion.
