THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The 20 inmates of Sree Chitra Poor Home, who had secured high marks in the SSLC examination this year, had two special guests on Friday who had come to congratulate them on their success. The inmates were gifted with bags and sweets by Minister for Panchayats M K Muneer and Health Minister V S Sivakumar who visited the Poor Home on Friday, a day after the results were announced. Sivakumar said that he was happy the bad days were over at the Poor Home, which falls under his constituency. Muneer said that Social Welfare Department would gift Rs 10,000 each for the 20 students who secured good marks. The students would be sent to REACH, which is a finishing school run by the Kerala State Womens Development Corporation, Muneer said. The Ministers received two umbrellas in return which were made by the inmates who had received training at the umbrella-making unit in the Poor Home.
