PALAKKAD: KSRTC and TNSTC have resumed bus services to Coimbatore and Palakkad respectively. There were no untoward incidents. The buses were travelling in convoys. On the Kerala side, four jeeps and a bus with police personnel were deputed to provide protection to the buses. Some of the police personnel from the Armed  reserve camp were also armed.“The services to Pollachi will resume only after a few days, as suggested by police department. There was a good rush on the KSRTC buses coming to Palakkad,“ said KSRTC Assistant Transport Officer Pradeep Kumar.A total of 70 trips to Tamil Nadu were accomplished by KSRTC on Saturday against an average of 140 trips made on regular days.“Though we had planned to run the services upto 7 pm, we plan to extend it with the support of the Highway police for the benefit of passengers, since it is Christmas ,” said Pradeep Kumar.The assistant commandant of the Armed reserve camp, Suresh Kumar, is the nodal officer for the Kerala side and DySP Annamalai on the Tamil Nadu side. They are in charge of ensuring safety and protection for the buses and the  passengers.
