BANGALORE: Ruling out the possibilities of a split in the party, the state BJP unit president K S Eshwarappa said some confusions in the party circle led to the debacle of its candidate in the recent Udupi-Chikmagalur Lok Sabha by-election.Speaking to newsmen here on Wednesday, the state BJP president admitted that there was confusion within the state BJP which created negative impact on the minds of party workers, sympathisers and the leaders. Eshwarappa, however refused to disclose the names of people, who were responsible for the present status of the BJP."The continued confusion which is bogging down the party in the state should not be allowed to stretch too much," Eshwarappa felt.Blaming both the state and the national party leaders for the present state of affairs, the state president hinted at undertaking punitive actions against some party members."Congress has not won the the Udupi-Chikmagalur by-election but BJP has lost it," he said. Eshwarappa, however, strongly rejected the suggestion that the state party was on the verge of a split. "The sacrifices made by the thousands of party leaders will not be allowed to go the drain," he added."It is the duty of the Central party leaders to sort out the confusion," he said.
