Students At This Karnataka College Get Rs 1,000 To Care For Trees On Campus
Instead of just celebrating one day as an Environment Day, this Karnataka college decided to celebrate every day as an Environment Day.

Day by day, as the awareness about climate change is increasing, people are taking great initiatives as a part of their contribution. While some have decided to not use plastic at all, others are trying to plant more and more saplings which will grow into trees and add to the green cover. Apart from individuals, schools and colleges too are actively participating in such activities. Recently, a government college in Karnataka decided to make a green campus and for this, they have included the student to be a part of their initiative.

Instead of just celebrating one day as an Environment Day, this Karnataka college decided to celebrate every day as an Environment Day. Students at Government First Grade College, Mundgod Uttara Kannada, Karnataka are getting great cash incentives for growing plants.

On this environment day, Bhu Vikas Chetna Trust announced a price of Rs 1,000 per plant for the students who will take care of them from the year of enrollment till the last year.

In addition to this, the forest department provided 300 plants of different species. As per reports, already 200 saplings have been planted around the campus by the young students who have registered themselves for the graduation year. Further, to make it more interesting, each plant has been given the name of a national figure and a plant has been registered in their names. As of now, 200 students are cultivating 200 plants.

The campus of the university is located in the Kadaganchi area, where children take care of their respective plants with utmost devotion during their free time. With the help of the association, the college is bearing the maintenance of the plants. Thus, the entire cost of growing a tree which also includes manure is borne by the college children. The college is making all the attempts to work in association with civic organisations to make sure it has a green campus, while the students get to experience the joy of growing plants and enjoying the fruit of their hard work.
