Swine flu outbreak: Two more deaths reported in Telangana; 36 victims so far

Hyderabad: Two more persons have succumbed to swine flu in Telangana, taking the total number of deaths due to the virus to 36 since January this year, the state government said on Wednesday. "In the current year, from January 1 till February 3, a total of 2,047 samples have been tested, out of which 686 have been found to be positive and the number of deaths because of other complications and swine flu are 36," a bulletin on swine flu said on Wednesday.

It said 71 samples were tested on Tuesday and 18 have been found positive for the virus. The number of deaths till February 2 since January 1 was 34, according to the bulletin issued on Tuesday. "The number of positive cases reported in the last six days (till February 3) is showing a fall in intensity. The figures are 35, 26, 45, 35, 39 and 18," the bulletin said.

Nonetheless, the state government has advised citizens to take precautions like reporting to the hospital on the first symptoms of swine flu like high fever, sneezing, cough and body pains. The bulletin said enough stock of medicines are available at all teaching hospitals, district hospitals and area hospitals.

It quoted homeopathy doctors as advising that citizens can also take homeo medicine as a preventive measure under guidance of homeopathy doctor. Medicine is available free of cost at Government Homeo Hospital, Ramanthapur in the city and all AYUSH dispensaries.
