The deemed university says it will reserve seven per cent seats for OBC students from the next academic year.
New Delhi: The Symbiosis International University in Pune has decided to voluntarily implement OBC reservations, ahead of the Supreme Court's decision on the 27 per cent OBC quota law.
The deemed university says it will reserve seven per cent seats for OBC students from the next academic year, which begins in the first week of June.
It will subsequently raise the number to 13 per cent in 2008, and finally reach the 27 per cent target two years from now, just as the Veerappa Moily Oversight Committee had recommended.
Symbiosis University has 15 colleges under it, with a current intake of more than 3,300 students.
This year, 235 OBC students will be taken in under the new quota scheme.
