BBMP Commissioner M K Shankaralinge Gowda on Tuesady urged councillors to lead the dengue awareness campaign launched by the BBMP. He, however, agreed that there is delay in the campaign.
Replying to questions raised by a few councillors in the BBMP Council’s monthly meeting, “We have already started a door-to-door verification and deployed 20 people per ward to create awareness on the disease. In next 10 days, we are targeting to cover 20 lakh houses,” he said. He also said that he has directed the health officials in this regard and urged councillors to take part in the campaign.
He added that any fever should be considered as dengue and tests should be conducted. “It can always be ruled out after the test,” he said. Answering to Mudalapalya councillor Shanthakumari who claimed that there is a shortage of medicine, he said that one can let him know if there is any shortage of drugs. He also assured to provide financial assistance to procure platelets for dengue patients.
“Money is not a constraint. We have allotted Rs 4 lakh per ward, but we can increase it, if needed,” he said.
