KADAPA: TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu has assured the voters to reduce VAT on textiles and service tax and provide free education to poor if the party is voted to power. Addressing a meeting at Rayachoti after announcing S Balasubramanyam as TDP candidate for the ensuing byelections, Naidu accused the Congress government of ruining the state on all fronts. It is also evident with the CAG finding fault with the state government on land allotments, he said.''How can the Congress defend itself as eligible for continuing in power after the CAG revealed that 85,000 acres of land was looted by the leaders?'' he wondered.''When we came to power in 1994, the government was not in a position to pay wages to employees. We strove hard to increase the financial resources and facilitated infrastructure and developed the state on all fronts. I acted as a trustee for the government during my nine-year tenure. But, never misused power,'' he remarked.Coming down on PCC chief Botcha Satyanarayana, Naidu said that the former has no moral right to speak on corruption, as he himself was indulged in liquor scam. Describing Botcha as a liquor don, Naidu said Botcha changed Gandhi Bhavan into `Brandi Bhavan'. Charging chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy of committing irregularities to a tune of `350 cr in coal scam, he said Rajampet was the centre for red sanders smuggling during YSR's regime, now shifted its base to Piler after Kiran Kumar Reddy became the chief minister. Later, Naidu unveiled NTR statue at Kammapalle, staged road shows at Lakkireddipalle, Neelakantrapupet and Guvvalacheruvu.
