TDP wants government to set up BC panel

HYDERABAD: TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday demanded the Congress- led UPA government to constitute a Backward Class Commission to address all issues relating to to BCs across the country.He also demanded the Centre to provide a separate ministry for BCs by allocating 25 per cent funds in the annual budget. The former chief minister declared that they would launch a national- level agitation along with other political parties for 33 per cent reservations to OBCs in the parliament and Assemblies.The TDP leader took strong objection to Union finance minister Pranab Mukherjee’s decision to entrust the caste census programme to a private agency and wanted the caste census to be done only by constitutional organisations having statutory powers.TDP organised a convention on BCs at the party office here on Friday. The day-long convention was attended by representatives of all the 120 BC organisations and all BC leaders of the party.
