BANGALORE: Much to the respite of SSLC students across the state, the Karnataka State High School Assistant Masters’ Association has withdrawn its call to boycott the SSLC evaluations that are slated to commence on April 22.On April 7, the Association had threatened to boycott the evaluations.This decision came after members of the Association met the Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Vishveshwar Hegde Kageri on Monday. The minister reportedly assured the teachers that their complaints related to wage discrepancies would be resolved within 15 days.“The minister has promised that an internal committee would be formed within 15 days to solve our problems related to pay scale. We have withdrawn the call to boycott the evaluations in the interest of the students’ future,” said Manjunath H K, president of the association.Besides, a solution to the wage discrepancies, the minister has also assured an ex-gratia of Rs 500 at par with PU lecturers. Also, he assured that the proposal to promote teachers as headmasters and headmistresses in high schools based on their service in 75:25 ratio (75 per cent on promotion and 25 by direct recruitment) will be approved.“Kageri assured us these issues would be discussed in the next cabinet meeting. We are hopeful CM D V Sadananda Gowda will  heed our problems,” he added.
