RAJAHMUNDRY: A software engineer from the town working in the US, who was on a holiday trip along with his wife and friends, drowned in Michigan lake on Saturday. Chekka Siva Kiran (33) of Ullithota Street , was working as a software engineer in the Quality Control Wing of GE Electronics. He was residing in Newvellin city in the US along with his wife Rekha, a BTech graduate. The couple got married in 2005. According to reports reaching his family here, Siva Kiran, Rekha and some other friends went to Michigan lake on Saturday on a holiday trip from September 3 to 6.“Around 9 am (US time), Siva Kiran and a son of his friend entered the lake for a swim. They went into deep water and drowned. His friends managed to rescue the boy. But Siva Kiran drowned in the lake. His body was found in the evening,” his family members said.Meanwhile, a pall of gloom descended on the house of Chekka Suryanarayana and Lakshmi, parents of Siva Kiran. His friend passed on the information to another of Siva Kiran’s friend Ranga, who stays in Rajahmundry, around 12.30 am. Siva Kiran’s father-in-law CHK Durga Rao left for the US on Sunday to bring back his body after completing the formalities.According to his family members, Siva Kiran was born and brought up in Rajahmundry. He did his schooling at St Ann’s School and Intermediate at the Government Junior College. Later, he completed his BE from a college in Gulbarga in Karnataka and MS in the US in 2000.His father Suryanarayana does steel business, while his brother Murali Krishna runs Surya Dental Hospital in the town. Siva Kiran last visited the town two months ago. According to reports reaching his family, an autopsy will be performed on Siva Kiran’s body in a couple of days. Arrangements are being made to bring his body to Rajahmundry after the autopsy. Relatives and several friends visited his house and consoled Siva Kiran’s parents.
