Chandigarh: A teenaged couple was found dead in a house of the girl's uncle in a village in Haryana's Bhiwani district on Sunday.
The boy called Pinku, a 19-old-resident of Manheru village, and Monica, a 18-old-resident of Neemdi Wala, were found hanging from a ceiling fan, said Bhiwani's Superintendent of Police Ashwin.
"The bodies were recovered from the house of the girl's uncle at Neemdi Wala," said Ashwin, who uses just one name.
Monica's parents, uncle and aunt and two brothers were charged for the deaths after a complaint by Pinku's maternal uncle. Ashwin said the couple might have been murdered because of a village tradition.
Though they belonged to separate gotras (sub-castes), Pinku's maternal uncle hailed from the girl's village and according to the village tradition this made the couple siblings.
"At the moment, we cannot say anything for sure, but we are investigating all angles involved," Ashwin said.
Monica, a Class 11 student, lived with her uncle in Neemdi Wala and Pinku had come to his maternal uncle.
