New Delhi: A day after a 2-year-old girl was brutally raped in New Delhi's Nangloi area, relatives of the infant on Sunday attacked the accused in the Sanjay Gandhi hospital.
The accused, who are in custody of Delhi Police, were brought in for medical check-up when the incident took place.
CCTV visuals showed the duo kidnapping the child while she was playing outside her house. Sources say the duo are from the same area as the rape survivor and the family of the survivor knew them.
Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi also lashed out at political parties for politicising rape cases. "Political parties are doing politics as usual. There is no jungle raj in Delhi. We are answerable to Home Ministry," he said.
Earlier in the day, Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal met the Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung in the capital to discuss the law and order situation. He also warned Prime Minister Narendra Modi that he won't let him live in peace until crime against women stops.
In a strong-worded message to Modi, Kejriwal said, "The Prime Minister should know one think that I am not like Sheila Dikshit who use to say that she is helpless that Delhi Police is not in her control. I will not sit quiet. I will not let the Prime Minister live in peace if such incidents continue."
