MADURAI: Yet another DMK man was arrested in a cheating case involving Rs 3.5 lakh on charges of breach of trust.Alagiri’s close aide and DMK youth wing secretary Jeyaraman had reportedly cheated an executive who was selling postpaid connections of a private telecommunication operator.According to police, Jeyaraman had taken money from the executive for a bulk booking in a company. Sakthi Sreenvisan, the sales executive, approached Jeyaraman three years ago as he had good sources in the DMK circle and sought his favour for bulk booking of post-paid connections in some PSUs.Jeyaraman said that the GM of Madurai Aavin was well acquainted to him and would always heed him when it comes to such deals. Lured by the promises, the victim offered a lucrative share in the incentives he would get if the deal was finalised.Jeyaraman promised that he would convince the Aavin officials to go for 500 post-paid connections in the said private telecom company. From November 20, 2008, the victim had paid Rs 3.5 lakh towards advance share to Jeyaraman. But, the connections were never availed by the Aavin staff which irked the sales executive. The executive started questioning Jeyaraman as when would he be able to get the connections in Aavin.Notwithstanding the pressure exerted by the victim, Jeyaraman at one stage began threatening the victim’s life.After the regime change, the victim lodged a complaint with the Madurai Police Commissioner P Kannappan. The petition was forwarded to the Central Crime Branch for further action. Inspector Gopalakrishnan summoned the accused and the preliminary investigations revealed the breach of trust.Following this, Jeyaraman was arrested and a case was also registered against him.
