Toshiba notebook starts at 40k
Toshiba, in partnership with HCL, launched four new versions of notebooks priced between Rs 40,000 to Rs 1.30 lakh per unit.

Mumbai: Toshiba Singapore, in partnership with HCL, launched four new versions of notebooks in India on Wednesday.

Priced between Rs 40,000 to Rs 1.30 lakh per unit, the notebooks have been mostly outsourced from the Toshiba's two factories in China.

The new notebook series are Qosmio F20, Satellite M70, Satellite L20-C430, Satellite A80-4321 and Satellite M50-341 that addressed the requirements of individuals to corporates.

Unveiling the new range of notebooks, Ivan Kam, Manager of Toshiba for South Asia Region, said that India continued to be an important market for his company, whose market share is among top three in the country.

In the last 20 years of notebook business, Toshiba has sold about 40 million units worldwide. HCL has been marketing Toshiba's products for the past eight years in India.

"Toshiba is engaged in creating innovative products incorporating end-users experiences. The company spends about 6 per cent of its total income in research and development worldwide. It has manufacturing units in Canada, Istanbul, Milan, Japan, China and Singapore," Kam said.

However, the company does not have plan to have a manufacturing base in India in near future.
