Muradnagar: Three armed men killed a bus conductor and robbed a man of Rs 46-lakh on board a crowded bus in broad daylight on Monday morning, on the highway in Uttar Pradesh.
Sunil Verma was robbed off at gunpoint on Monday morning, inside a crowded passenger bus in Muradnagar in Uttar Pradesh. When the bus conductor, Preetam Lall, tried to intervene, he was simply shot dead. Verma still hasn't recovered from the shock.
“Infront of me, three people shot the conductor and someone ran with my suitcase,” says victim, Sunil Verma.
Verma, a trader from Meerut, was carrying money on behalf of some jewellery merchants, and was on his way to Delhi to buy raw materials. He says he thought he and his money would be safe on a crowded bus, but that didn't deter the three thieves, who fled with his bag in a car that had been tailing the bus.
The police admit that they were at fault. "We need to step up security. We'll see where the lapses are and do the needful,” says DIG, Meerut Zone, Vijay Kumar.
However, the police has now released a sketch to nab the three accused.
The incident raises a serious question of security on the highways where someone can enter a crowded bus, shoot at will and escape just like that.
