KOCHI: In the wake of the reconstruction of North Railway Overbridge, the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) which met on Wednesday decided to put a slew of traffic regulations in the city. The regulations to be started from next Monday, include diverting private and KSRTC buses and relocating certain bus bays in the city.Private BusesAll the Private Limited Stops, Fast Passengers, Super Fast, Super Express and Super Deluxe buses should take the NH Bypass to end their trips at Vyttila Mobility Hub. All the city service buses plying via Vyttila, except the buses coming from Tripunithura side, should enter the Mobility Hub. The buses to Tripunithura side should also enter the Mobility Hub. The private buses from Thalayolaparambu, Vaikom, Piravom, Muvattupuzha and Cherthala should take the Kaloor-Kathrikkadavu road to halt at Kaloor station, officials with the Motor Vehicles Department said. The private buses from Perumbavoor and Kodungalloor should take the Edappally-Kaloor road to halt at the Kaloor bus station.KSRTC BusesThe KSRTC Limited Stop, Fast Passenger, Super Fast, Super Express and Deluxe buses should not enter the city and halt at the mobility hub between 7 am and 8 pm. These vehicles can use the mobility hub as the bus station instead of the Ernakulam KSRTC stand. To solve the woes of the passengers from Thoppumpady and Willingdon Island, 25 KSRTC Fast Passenger buses will ply through MG Road to this direction. Half of the Ernakulam-Guruvayur KSRTC buses should take the Vallarpadom Container Terminal road to halt at the Boat Jetty Bus Station via High Court Junction. The remaining half should take the national highway and end their trips at the Vyttila Mobility Hub.Bus Bays RelocatedSome of the bus bays have been relocated. The bus stop at Vyttila junction towards Kaniyampuzha area will cease to function. The stop for Alappuzha buses after Vyttila traffic signal will also not function. Tripunithura buses coming to the city will have stops near Vyttila temple and opposite the exit of Vyttila mobility hub.Oneway system will be put in place along Thykkoodam Kappela junction to Vyttila. All vehicles, other than heavy vehicles, coming to the city from Tripunithura side should enter the national highway through Thykkoodam underpass.
