CHENNAI: The fifth edition of Femfest ’12, a cultural extravaganza, organised by Sathyabama University was held on February 17 and 18. The cultural event was attended by over 100 colleges from across the country. The focus of this year’s event was to spread awareness about breast cancer among young women, for which a workshop was also held. The event was inaugurated by South Indian cine actor, Pia Bhajpai.The events included hotch-potch, word power, desi beats, mish-mash, colour wheel, twist and turn, jockeyz corner, brain grade, don it, and a fashion show. The judges of the day were RJ Paloma and actress Neelima. The idea of the various events was to bring out the grandeur of womanhood. Several other offstage events such as street plays, workshops on hair stylings, sweet making, vegetable carving, fireless cooking and salad dressing were conducted to tap the creative calibre of the girls. Nearly 50 stalls were put up including game stalls liketangled, freeze dance, paper dance, fix the tail, shave the balloon, bull’s eye, loop play, building the tower and paint ball. Also, numerous clothing, accessories and mehendi stalls were put up. The audience were treated to a musical concert by playback singer Chinmayi.The other events included face painting, solo dance, pencil shading andphotography. The chief guest at the grand finale was cine actor Shriya Saran.
