All trains, including the Bhubaneswar, Howrah and Guwahati Rajdhanis, on the Delhi-Howrah route have been halted.
New Delhi: Nearly twenty bogies of a goods train carrying coal got derailed near Mughalsarai in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday night causing a major hold-up on the arterial Delhi-Howrah rail route. The incident took place on the Gaya-Mughalsarai section at around 9 pm.
While no casualties have been reported, three railway lines are said to be badly affected. All trains on the Delhi-Howrah route have been halted. These include the Bhubaneswar, Howrah and Guwahati Rajdhanis, the Bombay Mail, the Budh Poornima Express and the Chambal Express. A total of 49 trains have been diverted, while 28 trains have been cancelled.
Emergency crew and Railway officials, meanwhile, have reached the site, that is around 40 km from Mughalsarai.
