Six members of a family died in Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur after a mentally ill man allegedly killed his wife, mother and three children before committing suicide.
The shocking incident took place on Friday and police said that the 45-year0old accused who was reportedly mentally ill, shot his mother dead and bludgeoned his wife with a hammer, thereby killing her.
After murdering his mother and wife, the accused, identified as Anurag Singh, threw his three children from the roof of their house, resulting to their death.
Singh was allegedly an alcoholic and was mentally disturbed, police said.
Singh allegedly shot his mother Savitri Singh, 62, wife Priyanka, 40, daughters Aasvi, 12, and Aarna, 8, and son Advik 4. He later shot himself dead, Sitapur Superintendent of Police Chakresh Mishra told PTI.
He further said, “We are collecting evidence from the spot and the bodies have been sent for postmortem.”
Police have deployed personnel in the village in order to ensure law and order is maintained.
