Washington: With the objective of highlighting the extraordinary achievements of ordinary South Asians in the US, a Washington-based Indian-American film maker has launched a weekly television programme.

The first episode of the show 'Martini with Manan', aired on MHz Networks, which broadcasts international programming for the Washington DC area, featured Raghavan V Chellappan, co-founder & CEO of mydosti.com, a one-stop entertainment and social networking platform.

The ten-minute programme is being hosted by Manan Singh Katohora, a Washington-based film maker. Manan has worked on several cross cultural films like 'Arya', 'When Kiran Met Karen', 'Flavors', 'Indian Fish in American Waters' and has recently co-produced and directed his first Bollywood Film '9 Eleven' featuring composer Jatin Pandit and television actress Kashmera Shah.

"This segment targets professional men and women who are stuck or looking to advance their lives and need a fresh perspective and impetus," he said.

Produced by Nilima Mehra and Dr Rajesh Mehra, the segment will focus on successful, emerging and promising South-Asian personalities, artists, entrepreneurs, local celebrities and business men and women, he said.

The segment aims to highlight "real" men and women who succeeded through struggles that will resonate with our focus audience and give them ideas to take away and act on, he said.
