The decision was taken keeping in view the interest of students,” said PG Council Chairman PK Mishra. In addition, it has been decided that from this year students, with criminal antecedents, will be barred from taking admission into the university.Thorough verification of every applicant will be done. “We can always get the criminal records of students getting admitted, if we want. It has been decided to take strict measures to minimise violence on the campus,” said UU Vice-Chancellor PK Sahoo. Starting this year, after allotment of hostel rooms, boarders will have to submit affidavits saying that they would not sub-let their hostel rooms to outsiders. If any student is found doing it, his admission will be cancelled forthwith.  The PG Council also took a decision to strictly implement the second PG norm. The university statute has a clause that prevents students from pursuing dual general PG courses. But the rule is yet to be enforced strictly. From this year, a student will only be allowed to pursue a professional PG course and a general PG course in subjects like humanities, psychology and the like.
