CHENNAI: The Vel Tech Dr RR & Dr SR Technical University (Vel Tech Rangarajan Dr Sagunthala R&D Institute of Science and Technology) and National Automotive Testing and R&D Infrastructure Project, New Delhi, functioning under the Government of India, Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, recognising the need for training high quality specialist personnel required for various tasks, have entered into an agreement.As part of this collaborative effort, both the institutions jointly announced two specialised engineering programmes: Bachelor of Technology in Automobile Engg and Master of Technology in Mechatronics.For the B Tech programme, the students will complete the first three years of study at Vel Tech and the final year of Study/Project at the NATRiP-GARC facility in Chennai. For the M Tech programme, the students will complete their first year of study at Vel Tech and the second year of study at NATRiP-GARC facility in Chennai. Both these courses are designed such that the students will get immediate placement opportunities after completion of the programme.Apart from the above, both the institutions have also agreed to work jointly in areas like Research & Development, conferences, research guidance, faculty & student training.The MoU was signed by Ramachandran, Sr Deputy Director, GARC- NATRiP and Col Prof Vel R Rangarajan, Chancellor, Vel Tech Dr RR & Dr SR Technical University, in the presence of Ambuj Sharma, IAS, Operating CEO & Project Director,NATRiP and Joint Secretary, Dept of Heavy Industries, Govt of India.
