THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Admissions to the vocational higher secondary schools in the state will be made using single window system from this academic year onwards. Last year the facility was piloted in the city and Kollam and it would be extended across the state, Education Minister P K Abdu Rabb said. Stressing the point that the government does not intend to shut down the VHSE schools soon, the prospectus for VHSE admissions were released along with the announcement of SSLC examination results on Thursday by the Minister. An exclusive software developed by National Informatic Centre (NIC) would be used for the facility. The district school principals, academic heads, clerks, IT coordinators and IT teachers have been given training in using the facility by dividing them into clusters. The facility would enable students and parents to learn about the admissions from a single point. The Minister said that the applications for admissions to VHSE schools could be collected from any VHSE school and the duly filled applications could be submitted to any VHSE school, making the process simple. A single application would be used for admissions to any school and any course. The prospectus of the VHSE admissions for 2012-13 and the application form for first year admission would be available on the website www.vhscap.kerala.gov.in from May 7. All VHSE schools would have a help desk set up and an admission committee which will function till the admissions are closed. The help desk would function from May 7. The desk will help clear doubts on admissions, filling of application forms and information on courses and seats. The last date for receiving applications is May 31. The trial allotment would begin on June 6. The first phase allotment will be on June 14 and final phase of allotment on June 29. The classes would begin on July 2.
