KOCHI: Videocon Mobile Services India withdrew its services without any prior notice to the public. People availing the services of Videocon were left clueless as their mobile phones displayed error in services. Meanwhile, even the retailers said that the company has not sent any notification of the process. When ‘City Express’ contacted the Videocon Mobile Services India office at Ravipuram, the officials abstained away from divulging details and said, “We cannot divulge any information right now as there could be some genuine reasons for the company’s action.”However, the whole issue has put Videocon customers in a dilemma. Sumitha Arun, who runs a retail shop named tCEL at Kaloor said that she came to know about it only when one of her customers could not avail a special offer provided by the company. “One of my customers could not avail the special offer of Rs 395 that permits user to have full talktime. When asked, we got to know that the company has blocked many sim cards,” she said.Meanwhile, another Videocon subscriber Sunil Immatti narrated a similar story. He said that he had to switch to another service provider while retaining the same number. “When I inserted my Videocon sim card, it failed to register. On contacting the nearest retail shop, the staff told me that the company has withdrawn its services. Now, I have switched on to another service provider,” he said.
