New Delhi: Actor Vijay, who is slowly coming to terms with the magnitude of the success of 'Nanban', had a valid reason for coming late to the press conference called recently to announce the film's success. The star was caught in a traffic jam!
Talking more about the film and the feedback he had received from his fans, Vijay said, "'Nanban' was director Shankar's film and not my film. I should say the script was the hero of the film. I have done quite a few films in which there have been quite a lot of punch dialogues and action sequences. However, in this film, I felt the script did everything a hero would do. I was just a part of a good film."
Overwhelmed by the appreciation from the director of '3 Idiots' (the Hindi version of which 'Nanban' is a remake), Vijay said, "Raju Hirani loved the film. Though he was unable to understand the language, he felt the visuals had come out well. In fact, he praised Harris Jeyraj for his music and said 'It's better than the original one'."
The actor, who has done quite a few multistarrers in his career, just couldn't stop raving about his friendship with Jiiva and Srikanth. He said, "Shooting for 'Nanban' was completely a new experience. Jiiva and Srikanth have become such good friends that at the end of shooting, we shared a great bond."
For Vijay, the film is close to his heart. That is because such incidents have happened in his life too. He said, "The story is about the system of education. I truly believe that everyone needs to do what they like. If I had not followed my heart, I would not have become an actor now. That's the message conveyed in this film."
Although it has been a while since the 'Velayudham' actor has sung in films, he expects to fulfill his fans' wish in his next film. He said, "After 'Sachin', I have not sung in my films. Even I miss singing. I hope to sing at least one song in my upcoming project."
