KOCHI: In the second case of violence in less than a week at the Penta Menaka Shopping mall, Sajith, owner of ‘Digital Cottage’, a mobile phone shop, was severely beaten up by four persons, Akbar, Saheed, Fasil and Firoz, on Wednesday. All the four accused run shops at the Penta Menaka.As per the police report, the violence began over a tiff between two persons, Sanoj and Faisi, both working at Penta Menaka. Sanoj was an employee at Sajith’s shop. Following the argument, Faisi informed his relatives, Akbar, Saheed, Fasil and Firoz, about the incident. The quartet then stormed into Sajith’s shop and accused him of sheltering Sanoj. This led to a showdown between the gang and Sajith. By the time the police reached the spot, the four persons had escaped. The severely injured Sajith was admitted to the hospital. The accused were later arrested by a police team led by Ernakulam Central CI Suneesh Babu and SI Ananth Lal. A case has been registered against the accused.A similar incident had taken place on Tuesday, when Aravind, running a rented mobile phone shop, ‘Hannaas’ at the Penta Menaka, was beaten up shop-owner Siyaad and his friend Subait. The police have arrested the accused and a case has been registered.
