THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan on Sunday termed Government Chief Whip P C George’s comments against former minister A K Balan as ‘’uncultured”. Talking to reporters on the sidelines of the State Cooperative Bank Employees Federation Conference here, Achuthanandan said he expected “the people concerned’’ to take necessary action against George.'The comments on Balan were wrong and condemnable. His (George’s) speech insulting the woman watch and ward staff was lurid,’’ Achuthanandan said.
The Opposition Leader declined to react to Forest Minister K B Ganesh Kumar’s unsavoury comments about him. Alleging the UDF Government of sponsoring new generation banks, Achuthanandan said: “Attempts are on to disburse pay of government employees through private banks.”
“Instead of opening an account for the Kochi Metro Rail Project with any nationalised bank, the account has been opened with a private bank where Chief Minister Oommen Chandy’s relative is employed,” he said.
