BANGALORE: Union Minister of State for Railways K H Muniyappa on Saturday inaugurated a waiting room and cleaning machines at the Cantonment Railway Station.Speaking to media persons, Muniyappa said the waiting hall would benefit railway passengers. “There are a few more plans for the development of Cantonment Railway Station. Strengthening of platforms will be taken up shortly. The UPA government gives importance to the development of railway stations and passenger amenities. We want to augment the facilities at Cantonment Railway Station by making further improvement to the circulating area including widening of road and improved car parking on plat form No 2,” the minister explained.On the long pending demand of people from Cox Town, Frazer Town, Lingarajapuram and other areas for a brief stop of Lalbagh and Brindavan Express trains at Bangalore East Railway Station, the minister promised to look into the matter. It may be recalled here that members of Bharatinagar Residents Welfare Association, led by their President N S Ravi, had staged dharnas on many occasions and submitted memorandum to the railway authorities demanding a brief halt of Lalbagh and Brindavan Express trains at Bangalore East.On the construction of the over bridge at Byappanahalli railway level crossing, the minister said the efforts would be made to start the construction early.
