The Inner Wheel Club of Greater Cochin has started a comprehensive waste disposal project for the residents of a colony near TOC H School in Vyttila.
The residents, who had no option but to dump the garbage into the canal, are coming forward to associate with the project. As part of the project, the Inner Wheel Club will adopt 30 houses and supply them biopots worth Rs 1,300 each. Bacteria powder will also be provided to ensure that the waste doesn’t stink.
In addition to organic waste, the disposal agency will collect waste papers also. But, the residents will have to pay a small amount to get rid of plastic waste.
“The corporation authorities are not equipped to handle the massive quantity of garbage. The members of Inner Wheel Club of Greater Cochin feel that with this project we can make people aware of the need
toconverting waste into wealth,” said Clun president Sheela Kochouseph Chittilappilly.
