Kolkata: In yet another fresh effort to woo industry in West Bengal, state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced the setting up of a five-member government task force to ensure quick clearance of business projects in the state.

Speaking at the inaugural session of Biz Bridge, an engineering and manufacturing expo in Kolkata, Banerjee said that a committee formed by joint secretaries of the industry, finance, land, power and environment departments will look into single window clearance of projects.

Drawing attention to at least three pending projects in the state, the chief minister reiterated that companies must ensure that cleared projects must be immediately implemented. Banerjee also announced that nearly 2000 acres of land available in different parts of the state will be utilised for setting up of industrial parks, especially the for medium and small scale sector.

The announcements came a day after the Tata group told the Supreme Court that they were looking for land in Singur for the second phase of small car productions.
