New Delhi: Newlywed singer, Mariah Carey gave her first television interview on Monday following her wedding in the Bahamas to Nick Cannon.
The 38-year-old singer and the 27-year-old actor tied the knot at Mariah's Bahamian estate on April 30 after a courtship that began in late March.
Cannon said they clicked instantly when Mariah cast him as a lover in the music video for her new single, Bye Bye.
Speaking to chat show host, Ellen DeGeneres, Mariah talked about the proposal, the secretive wedding, their wedding bands and wanting kids. Mariah said she and Cannon had designed their own rings for the wedding, adding that she ''liked his a lot'.'
However, Mariah told DeGeneres that the wedding was actually masked as a video shoot, even though she knew they might end up getting married. The media were not invited and the ceremony was kept small.
"Not a lot," said Mariah when asked how many people were there, "mainly it was people there to do my hair and help me with the dress," she said.
"(I had) three of my friends and he had three people with him, so it wasn't a lot of people, because we wanted to be on the beach and we didn't want other people taking pictures and stuff like that,'' she added.
Mariah also said both she and Cannon had not wanted it to be a publicity stunt — which everyone might think.
Before the end of the show, DeGeneres presented Carey with a gold coloured 'gravy boat' as a wedding present.
