Mumbai: India's nightingale is upset with the Maharashtra government.

Lata Mangeshkar says she is not happy with the idea of a flyover passing next to her balcony on south Mumbai's Peddar Road.

She and her sister Asha Bhosle had voiced their objections about the project earlier as well but now she has made her displeasure official.

In a letter to state Public Welfare Minister Anil Deshmukh, Lata has reportedly said that if the proposed flyover on Peddar Road is constructed , she will have no option but to leave Mumbai and settle in Pune or in the interiors of Maharashtra.

However, she denies having written any such letter.

In 2001, when the Pedder Road flyover figured on the list of 50 that the MSRDC wanted to build as part of its mega project to decongest Mumbai traffic, Mangeshkar had joined her voice with those of local residents campaigning against it, until the project was shelved.

Meanwhile, the Pedder Road Residents Association (PRRA) is meeting Member of Parliament Milind Deora on Monday to discuss a future course of action and also plans to approach the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) and present its case.

What's your reaction?
