Will 500km Far Mehandipur Balaji Temple Help UP's Vikas Dwivedi Dodge Snake Bite Terror after 7 bites in 40 Days?
In a desperate attempt to escape this ordeal, Vikas fled 500 kilometers from home to seek refuge in a temple. Despite this, the snake continued to haunt him.

Vikas Dwivedi, a 24-year-old resident of Soura village in Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur district has garnered a good deal of national attention due to a bizarre series of events involving repeated snake bites on him. Vikas, also known as Betu, was bitten by a snake seven times in 40 days, with the snake appearing in his dreams before each bite. In a desperate attempt to escape this ordeal, Vikas fled 500 kilometers from home to seek refuge in a temple. Despite this, the snake continued to haunt him, appearing again in his dreams with a chilling prophecy.

Vikas, recounting his experiences, stated, that he arrived in his village on May 30 after visiting a temple of Lord Hanuman in Chitrakoot. On Sunday, June 2, around 8 pm, the snake bit him while he was going to the toilet. His family rushed him to the nearest hospital, where he recovered after treatment. However, the snake bit him again the following Saturday, June 9, which frightened his family again. However, he survived that incident as well.

Continuing his narrative, Vikas claimed that on Saturday, June 16, the snake appeared in his dream before biting him, where it warned Vikas that it would bite him nine times. It also said that he would survive eight bites, but the ninth time, he would not survive under any circumstances. After delivering this message, the snake bit him for the third time, he claimed.

Following this alarming dream, Vikas informed his family. Fearful of the snake’s relentless pursuit, they sent Vikas to stay with his aunt in Fatehpur, 200 km away. Despite their efforts, the snake persisted and bit Vikas for the fourth time while he was asleep on Saturday night, June 23. In response, the family began to place trust in Vikas’s dreams. They brought him back from Fatehpur to stay at his uncle’s heavily monitored house, equipped with CCTV cameras throughout. The room where Vikas stayed was tightly secured. Vikas recounted how the snake returned and bit him for the fifth time. Subsequently, he suffered the sixth and seventh bites on July 11, all within the confines of his uncle’s residence. These relentless attacks have left Vikas utterly shattered.

The incident unfolded in Soura village, connected to the renowned religious site Mehandipur Balaji in Dausa district. Vikas Dwivedi, son of Surendra Dwivedi, was repeatedly bitten by a snake, prompting his family to seek help from various ‘tantriks‘ to no avail. Eventually, they brought Vikas to Mehandipur Balaji along with eleven relatives, praying fervently for a resolution. Vikas explained that the snake only appeared to him. Even before reaching Mehandipur Balaji, the snake had appeared in his dreams, forewarning him that it would not strike on the upcoming Saturday and Sunday but would bite him the following Saturday. Due to the repeated attacks, Vikas and his family have incurred substantial expenses on medical treatments, forcing them to even mortgage his mother’s jewelry.

When approached at a rest house near Mehandipur Balaji, Vikas, visibly marked by snake bites on his hands and feet, initially hesitated to speak but eventually shared his harrowing experiences. He recounted how the snake had bitten him multiple times despite efforts to evade it, including relocating to his aunt’s home in Fatehpur. The prophetic warning of the snake drove Vikas and his family to seek refuge and divine intervention at Mehandipur Balaji, renowned as a sanctuary for such extraordinary afflictions.

In response to the family’s distress, the Fatehpur district administration has taken notice of the matter. The district’s health department took immediate action, with Chief Medical Officer Dr Rajiv Nayan Giri confirming the formation of a committee comprising three doctors. Simultaneously, the forest department also initiated an investigation into the matter. DFO Ramanuj Tripathi and his team visited Ram Sanehi Memorial Hospital where Vikas Dwivedi was receiving treatment and consulted with the doctors at the hospital. DFO Ramanuj Tripathi noted that Vikas Dwivedi’s residence was currently locked, as he had relocated with his family. He assured that if a snake was located, the team would undertake measures for its safe removal.

Despite the financial strain caused by extensive medical treatments and consultations with ‘tantriks‘, Vikas’s family remains hopeful for a resolution at Mehandipur Balaji, praying earnestly for relief from this inexplicable ordeal. The family, deeply distressed by the extraordinary events, has reached out to the government for assistance.
