CHENNAI: A 32-year-old man committed suicide with the same noose his wife hung herself from, allegedly after their quarrel at Selaiyur on Saturday.Police said Manimaran (32) of Agaram Then, Annai Sathya Nagar got into a verbal duel with wife Viji (28) as she was late in cooking food. He left for work to a printing press at Royapuram. After returning home at night, he was shocked to find his wife hanging from the bedroom ceiling while their three-year-old son Rishikesh was fast asleep, the police said. Manimaran called up his mother-in-law Malathi in Kumbakonam to inform her about the incident, sources said. Malathi, who rushed to her daughter’s house, broke open the front door with some help as it locked from inside, the police said and added that she was shocked to find her son-in-law hanging from a noose in the bedroom while Viji’s body lay on the bed and their child seated near it, crying.‘Burnt’ by hubbyA 30-year-old woman was rescued by social workers from the Chetpet Railway Station here on Saturday. A Coimbatore resident, Seetha was allegedly set afire by her husband and his second wife, but she managed to escape.Seen groaning in pain, Seetha claimed that her husband and his second wife took her to Tirupati from Coimbatore and set her on fire after dousing her with kerosene. Later, she somehow reached Chennai.For almost a fortnight, she was seen on the railway platform. As Seetha had suffered burns all over her body, the rescue team took her to the Kilpauk Medical College Hospital. Doctors at the Kilpauk hospital said Seetha’s condition was critical.
