Chandigarh: A woman, who alleged policemen had raped her, committed suicide Monday in the office of a senior Haryana police officer.
The woman, a resident of Rohtak, had come to the office of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) V B Singh in Panchkula, Chandigarh, to lodge a complaint of rape against two police officials.
"She accused one head constable and one constable of raping her in Rohtak in the month of April." Sandeep Khirawar, superintendent of police (Panchkula), told IANS.
"After hearing her tale of woes, the ADGP assured her of full justice at the earliest. But the woman said she had already consumed some poisonous substance out of frustration."
"On hearing this, the ADGP immediately called the police staff, who shifted the woman to the nearest civil hospital. But her condition deteriorated and she was referred to PGI, Chandigarh. She died there at 1630 hrs IST," said the police official
