Tiger can leave everyone stunned with his sheer genius on a golf course.

New Delhi: While his personal life is in tatters few have focussed on Tiger Woods the golfer. It is not easy to forget that he is a once in a generation sportsman, who will go down in history as a legend even if he doesn't pick up a golf club again.

So it is no surprise that his return to competition will be eagerly awaited.

Tiger can leave everyone stunned with his sheer genius on a golf course.

He is to golf what Roger Federer is to tennis or Sachin Tendulkar is to cricket, Mohammad Ali was to boxing and Michael Schumacher was to Formula One.

He a dazzling talent who has raised the standard at which his sport his played.

"I mean how long is it going to be? Is it going to be three months? Is it going to be six months? Or is it going to be more? I mean I think every one of us players will be looking forward to him coming back," says Graeme McDowell.

There is no deadline yet on when Tiger will return, but there is talk that the Majors will tempt him to return.

Each of golf's four big tournaments this year are being played on courses Tiger has won on. Even the fans know that without Tiger, golf has that something special missing.

"Yeah I'll still watch golf, I'll watch golf to see what it's like, you know, it's going to be weird without Tiger there, I'm sure there's going to be all sorts of interesting, I don't know, comments or insights as to what's happening with him," says a golf fan.

Moreover, there are those who think the motivation to break Jack Nicklaus' record of 18 Major titles will drive Tiger towards picking up his clubs again.

"I don't know I think once he gets his mind focused again and he gets back totally into golf, this may be something that fires him up even more so, you know, we all want to see him beat Jack's record," Nick Price says.

Though some think the quest for a place in the history books isn't Tiger's sole motivation.

"Golf's a game we love and it's a good game that we play and I've always said to Tiger at the end of the day it's just fun and if he doesn't enjoy it anymore - no big deal. It's just a game. Life is more important, his family is more important," says Tiger's caddie Steve Williams.

So even as the sponsors walk away now and a media frenzy rages on, there are those who wait patiently for tiger woods, the golfing genius to return to the greens.
