KOCHI: The police on Tuesday arrested a youth in connection with a robbery that occurred September last at Vennala Government Higher Secondary School. The arrested has been identified as Jithin of Kumbalkkal House, Malappuram. He had allegedly stolen `28,000 and a Nokia-N95 mobile phone from the locker room at the school.The boy was arrested by a police team led by Palarivattom SI Shiju from Vennala Arakkakadavu area. The police recovered the mobile phone but the money had been spent by the accused. Police said the accused had been involved in petty theft cases. Several cases have been registered against him at Malappuram, Vazhikkadavu, Manjeri and Gudalur. “The boy met Mortuary Shameer, a native of Ernakulam district, at Manjeri sub-jail last year. After being released from jail, he started to live in the house of Mortuary Shameer in Tripunithura. During this time he committed the robbery at Vennala HSS,” police official said. He was presented before the First Class Judicial Magistrate Court and remanded in judicial custody.
