Youth assaulted in IRC village

BHUBANESWAR: A group of miscreants assaulted a youth in IRC Village area on Tuesday night. The youth, Rahul Swain, sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment. A case has been lodged at Nayapalli Police Station in this connection but no one has been arrested so far. Police said the group was led by Bapi Jagdev.Police said Rahul had returned from Kolkata and was on his way home when he came across Bapi, who he had acquaintance with, near the local Laxmi Puja pandal. Both had a conversation and Rahul left the place.However, soon after, Bapi along with half a dozen youths arrived at Rahul’s N-2 residence and started assaulting him without any provocation.When Police reached the spot, the youths fled. A complaint was later lodged with the Nayapalli Police who are investigating. Ramesh happens to be the son of architect Ramesh Swain.
