Shravani Mela, one of the largest religious congregations in India’s eastern region, will be organised on July 22. In this event, devotees from various parts of the country and abroad visit Deoghar during the month of Shravan and offer prayers at Baba Baidyanath Dham temple.
According to Local 18, the administration has left no stone unturned for the preparations. This is because a high number of Kawanriyas are likely to arrive at the event this year. For those who don’t know, the Kawanriyas pilgrims walk barefoot to Deoghar to pour the water on the shivling chanting Bol Bam. The city council has penned a letter to the district administration regarding the Shravani Mela’s proper management. The administration has assured that they will take proper steps for the successful execution of the fair.
The District Magistrate Naval Chaudhary talked about the facilities that will be bestowed to the Kawanriyas in this event. According to the DM, there is a possibility that phone and mobile numbers, route table, WiFi, lost and found miking, and phone booth will be available. The officer said that if any person is separated from his family and doesn’t have any cell phones, then they can connect with them with the fair facilities. As per the officer, these steps will help the Kawanriyas pilgrims complete their trip to the Baba Baidyanath Dham temple.
The DM also revealed that the administration will try to do something unique this year. As per Mr Chaudhary, they will give utmost concentration to the cleanliness system, drinking water, electricity and medical care facilities at Shravani Mela. Besides these aspects, he added that the security and housing arrangements will also be taken care of. Mr Chaudhary said that the initiatives are also being undertaken to repair the Dharamshala already built here.
According to the DM, ID cards have also been made mandatory for the devotees, failing which the Kawanriyas pilgrims will not be permitted entry at the ghats. The officer has assured that he and his team are always present to ensure that the devotees don’t face any problems. He added that the shopkeepers have been asked to not sell anything without a rate chart. Mr Chaudhary has undertaken this step to avoid any squabbles between the pilgrims and the shopkeepers.
