Vaishakh Purnima 2024: How Kashi Will Celebrate The Festival This Year
On the occasion of Vaishakh Purnima, there are several events to be organised at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple.

Preparations have started in the holy city of Kashi on the occasion of Vaishakh Purnima. A massive crowd of devotees is expected to gather on the banks of the Ganges in the early morning for prayers. Adding to it, various events are set to be held on May 23 in Sarnath, where Gautam Buddha taught his first lesson after attaining enlightenment.

Preparations on the occasion of Buddha Purnima have also started in full swing. On this auspicious occasion, Buddhist followers from around the globe will get the chance to witness the relics of lord Buddha in Sarnath.

Ven. Rathmalwa Sumithananda Thero, the joint secretary of the Maha Bodhi Society mentioned that on this auspicious occasion, devotees will be able to see the relics of lord Buddha from 6 am to 11 am at the Mahabodhi Temple. He also stated that these relics are displayed for the public only on Buddha Purnima. Adding to it, he said that multiple events are set to take place in various places in Sarnath.

On the occasion of this auspicious day, there are several events to be organised at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple. A huge number of devotees is expected to gather on the banks of the Ganges to take a holy bath in the river. Special arrangements are made by the government to maintain the law and order situation in the area. Special Barricades are being set up in the bathing areas to prevent devotees from entering deep waters and avoid any unforeseen incident, Special NDRF team and water police are also set to be deployed.

As per the Hindu Calendar, the auspicious muhurat of Purnima (Full Moon) is set to start at 5:50 PM on May 22 and will continue till 6:20 PM on May 23. Thus, Buddha Purnima will be celebrated on May 23. On this auspicious day, people perform various rituals and also take part in many social welfare activities.

On this auspicious day, Chandra Deva (the Moon God) is usually worshipped. During the night time, one should offer Argya to Chandra Deva. It is believed that worshipping Chandra Deva on this day may solve your economic problems.
